The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards was created to support the future of creativity and showcase original works of art and literature from students in grades 7-12.  Students submit their works to their region to be judged by a panel of luminaries of the visual and literary arts.

The awards will be handed out in a ceremony at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, Georgia on March 10, 2018 with an art exhibition running from February 28th until March 10th. North Gwinnett HS came out strong at these awards with the most awards won in the state with a whopping 144 awards earned.  NGHS won 34 gold keys, 43 silver keys, and 67 honorable mentions.

NGHS also entered 350 pieces into the Shutter Sense and Non-Sense which is a juried photography exhibit.  The exhibit is on display at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center located at 2020 Clean Water Drive in Buford.  North took home 19 awards total which is the most overall wins in the county.  They won four 1st place awards, five 2nd place awards, two 3rd place awards, and eight Honorable Mentions.
