Buford boys and girls track teams finished second in the first-ever Erin Marsh Invitational on Saturday, March 11, at Tom Riden Stadium. The event is named for Erin Marsh, a 2017 Buford High School graduate who had a successful track and field career at Duke. 

Buford’s track team took to Twitter, posting, “We are proud to say that Erin represented herself and Buford the right way! We are extremely proud and blessed to be apart of her journey!”

Marsh, who was present at her namesake event, was able to witness her alma mater’s strong finishes in the inaugural meet. 

The Buford boys team accumulated 144 points to finish second behind Grayson with 153.5 points. Stockbridge came in third with 111.5 points.

Buford’s girls team also finished in second place with 99.5 points. Stockbridge girls track team was first with 142, and Cherokee Bluff finished third with 94 points.

Helping Buford’s boys track team in earning second place were first place finishers Paul Mubenga (shot put, 45-4); Jayden Ivaniciuk (triple jump, 45-0); Jeremiah Colbert (100-meter dash, 11.13); Devin Williams (200-meter dash, 22.06); the 4×100 relay team (41.29); 4×200 relay team (1:29.17); and 4×800 relay team (8:26.80).

Other top five finishers for the Wolves were Jack Talley (fourth, discus); Sebastien Arano (fifth, discus); Adrian Hollingshed Jr. (third, 300-meter hurdles); Jake Colletta (fourth, 300-meter hurdles); Carter Hales (third, 3200-meter); Jayden Ivaniciuk (second, 110-meter hurdles); KJ Bolden (second, 100-meter); Jordan Allen (third, 100-meter); Colby Polhemus (third, 1600-meter); Alexander Knight (fourth, 400-meter); and Ethan Ervin (fifth, 400-meter).

For the Lady Wolves, Jaci Wright came in first in the triple jump (37-1), 100-meter hurdles (14.65) and 300-meter hurdles (46.66), as did Dominique Brown in the 200-meter (26.06).

Buford’s girls track and field team got top five finishes from Shayna Santorelli (third, pole vault); Emma Castorri (fifth, high jump); Kinsley Jenkinson (third, 300-meter hurdles and 100-meter hurdles); Hayden Bailey (second, 3200-meter); Dominique Brown (fourth, 100-meter); Abby Wood (fourth, 1600-meter); Israel Anderson (third, 400-meter); and the 4×800 relay team (second).
