The Gwinnett County Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect accused of armed robbery.

According to GCPD detectives, the suspect was found inside a vehicle outside McKendree United Methodist Church at 1570 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in Lawrenceville on Tuesday, May 9. The owner of the vehicle confronted the suspect, who then fled the scene leaving his cell phone inside the victim’s car.

Shortly after fleeing, the suspect returned and demanded his cell phone. The victim told the suspect she was waiting for police. He then pulled a gun and aimed it at her before breaking out a window in the victim’s car and retrieving his cell phone.

The suspect is described as a black male, 19 to 20 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds and wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. He fled in a gray or silver Jeep Liberty driven by another male. The vehicle had distinctive decals on the back windshield that read “Cars $500 Down (614) 522-6500.”
