The city of Sugar Hill announced in its management report posted online Monday, July 11, that permits have been issued to several businesses.

During the month of June, a certificate of occupancy was issued for the Lowe’s Distribution Center at 783 Brogdon Road.

A remodel permit was issued to remodel 50,934 square feet at Publix located at 5885 Cumming Highway N.E.

Permits were issued for Windstream Communications, which will occupy approximately 160,000 square feet of the Sugar Hill Distribution Center at 655 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. The distribution center is a 517,586-square-foot, two-building center on 45.4 acres that houses four tenants, including global security firm Sargent & Greenleaf, Empire Today, which sells carpet, flooring and window treatments, and MTI Baths, a distributor of bathtubs, vanities and other bath and shower-related fixtures.

Also during the month of June, 57 townhome permits were issued for Carlton North subdivision with an average of 2,079 square feet.

Construction on the E Center Event Space and Conference Room is nearing completion. During June, the city’s contractor, Barnsley Construction, installed interior finishes, fixtures, cabinets and glass for a small meeting space proposed to be in the northeast corner of the parking level at the E Center, which is at 5009 W. Broad Street. Construction is expected to be complete within six weeks. The space consists of two areas that can be used for classes, meetings or events, and reservations will soon be available for public and private parties.
