Million Word Club member Chizoba “Chi Chi” Ikedi-Ubaka is the Buford Academy’s reader spotlight for February. Chi Chi is a third grader in Mr. Counts’s class

“Chi Chi is such a joy to have in the media center,” says Buford Academy Media Specialist Lana Nix. “She has an infectious life and personality. She is always asking for new and good books to read, but also helps others find good books.”

“Mrs. Smith’s Spy School” by Beth McMullen is Chi Chi’s favorite book. Her favorite author is Roald Dahl because “his fantasy books are so wonderful and he puts in a lot of detail into his stories.”

“She loves to read because it helps her to express her mind in books,” says Nix.

Chi Chi is the daughter of Gerald and Kelechi and big sister to a brother, Kene, 6 and a sister, Oma, 3. In her spare time, Chi Chi enjoys watching movies, playing soccer,  painting and crafting. She once made a doll house for her dolls using paper and tape. She even made the furniture for them too. Chi Chi hopes to play for a soccer team in the future.

“This girl is going to do big things,” says Nix.

The Buford City Schools Reader Spotlight is made possible by the generosity of Peoples Bank & Trust, 1899 Buford Highway, Buford GA 30518, (770) 932-1900.
