Meet Maye Nordholz, the Buford Academy Reader of the Week. Maye is a third-grader and the student of Mrs. Barabra Coleman and Mrs. Beth Owens. According to Mrs. Lana Nix, Media Specialist at Buford Academy, Maye has a quiet spirit and is an incredibly humble girl with wisdom beyond her years. To top it off, she loves to read!

Maye is an exceptional reader at BA. She is the first student to reach 100 points in Accelerated Reading (AR) and also the first student this year to already reach the one million word club. So far, she has taken 86 AR tests this year. Maye’s all-time favorite book is “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”, the fourth installment in the Harry Potter series.

While she deeply loves to read, she has several other hobbies, including playing all kinds of sports. Maye plays basketball, softball, and soccer, but her favorite of the three is soccer. When Maye isn’t reading or practicing sports, she is most likely playing on her American Ninja Warrior course in her backyard, built for her by her uncle.

Congratulations, Maye, for not only for becoming Reader of the Week here at Buford Academy, but for also reaching the one million word club. This is truly an amazing feat to have reached so early in the school year. Keep up the good work. Go Wolves!

The media specialists at the Buford Senior Academy and Buford Academy select the Buford City Schools Reader of the Week.  Buford students grades first through fifth have a chance at being named the Reader of the Week. In addition to appearing online and in print, the Reader of the Week receives a voucher to Stars and Strikes for all of their hard work.
