On Thursday afternoon, March 21, 2019, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office along with Hall County Fire Services personnel responded to the 3100 block of Heritage Crossing Drive in South Hall County after a call came in about a deceased male found in the area.

At approximately 4 p.m. Thursday, a resident of the neighborhood off of Ga 347/Friendship Road in South Hall found the body in a wooded area behind a home.

Investigators were able to identify the body as that belonging to Jesse Dean Day, age 60 of Buford, Ga.  Day was the subject of a Mattie’s call that was put out after Day was seen leaving from his home in the 3000 block of Friendship Road on Monday afternoon, March 18, 2019.  Deputies had been searching for him throughout the week in the area.  Day’s body was discovered about a half mile from his home.

Investigators did not find any obvious signs of trauma or foul play during the preliminary investigation.  His body was sent to the Dekalb County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.  Day’s next of kin has been notified.

The case remains under investigation.
