The Sugar Hill Historic Preservation Society will welcome Robert Coughlin, author of “Lake Sidney Lanier ‘A Storybook Site’: The Early History & Construction of Buford Dam,” to the Eagle Theatre for a history lecture Wednesday, Aug. 16.
The free event, which is part of the 2023 Summer Speakers Series, will begin at 6:30 p.m. The speaking engagement coincides with an exhibit on Lake Lanier now on display at the Sugar Hill History Museum.
In his book, Coughlin has compiled research on the history of Lake Lanier and the construction of Buford Dam. The book inspired a five-part article series published by the North Gwinnett Voice on the historical significance of Lake Lanier:
