UPDATE:

Gwinnett County Police have released the report to us.  The report confirms the validity of the Facebook post.  The incident occurred in unincorporated Buford off of Plunkett Rd near the Mall of Georgia.  The exact intersection is Montana Rd and Oklahoma Dr.  Gwinnett County Public School district.

Police are still investigating this incident.

Original Report:

One of the North Gwinnett Voice staff came across an alarming post on Facebook last night.  After seeing the post, we contacted the Gwinnett County PD to validate the post.  A copy of the post is below.

“So today in Buford a man tried to grab my son on his way home from the bus stop. Thankfully, but unfortunately, I have prepared my son for most instances of stranger danger…and he acted accordingly.
This man drove up to my son and told him he’d take him home (we’re about 2 blocks from bus stop on a dead end street in a private neighborhood, with one way in and out). We’ve only been here since Feb and my son has only been walking home from his stop for a week. My son told him NO and he’s been told not to talk to strangers! The man then exited his car and yelled at my son to get in his car NOW! At which point my son ran home up the driveway and hid behind our shed. The man fled at some point after my son started running.
Police have a report and school and transport for his and surrounding schools have been notified.
The man was driving a blue Mazda CX-9 (my son knows the car because it’s what I drive).
He is a white male 30s with light hair and a short beard. He was wearing a Guns N Roses shirt with basketball type pants, and orange shoes.
I’m a mess of anxiety, tears, and fear. But, I wanted to be vigilant enough to inform you moms in this and surrounding areas, to be on the lookout. I know I’ll be hugging my babies a little tighter right now.”

Although the police report and details contained in the report are not able to be released to media and the public yet, they did say that the “narrative of the police report matches that of the Facebook post”.  We cannot at this time confirm whether this happened in the city limits of Buford or in unincorporated Buford.  The North Gwinnett Voice will update this thread as soon as we receive any further information.
