MT. AIRY — The Buford Wolves varsity softball team was on the road on Tuesday as they traveled to play Habersham Central.  Buford would beat their fellow Region 8-AAAAAA opponent 14-1. Buford’s bats were hot forcing the game to end in the fifth inning when the run-rule was called.

It was a tiny powerhouse of a player that really stole the show for Buford.  Freshman Mackenzie Pickens had a stellar night at the plate homering three times during the game which set her up for breaking the school record for the most RBIs earned in a single game. Pickens was 4-for-4 with a solo home run in the first inning, a grand slam in the second inning, and a three-run homer in the fifth inning.  She ended the game having earned nine RBIs and a new school record. She also scored three runs.

Senior Abbi Perkins also had a good night at-bat going 2-for-3 with two solo home runs, two RBIs, and scoring two runs.  Junior Taylor Malvin was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs.

Sophomore Olivia Duncan records her sixth win of the season.  She pitched five innings giving up five hits and one run while striking out four.

Buford’s overall record improves to 17-2 and 9-0 in the region.

Buford hosts Shiloh on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Buford Softball Complex.
