The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Suwanee Creek as the creek was measured at 8.9 feet at 6:15 a.m. Friday morning, July 8, and is expected to crest at 9 feet late morning. By late afternoon, the flooding should recede, and the creek will be back below flood stage.

The flooding has impacted large portions of the Suwanee Creek Greenway and trails from Suwanee Creek Park to George Pierce Park. The playground area behind Suwanee Elementary School is also expected to be impacted by the flooding.

Residents are urged to use caution when flooding is spotted and to not attempt to navigate through it. It is best to avoid flooded areas altogether.

Suwanee Creek is considered to be at flood stage at 8 feet.

The flooding was caused by a severe thunderstorm that rolled through the watershed area of Suwanee Creek on Thursday during rush hour.
