Marc Cohen, a member of the Sugar Hill City Council, has been named to the 2022 Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board.

Cohen, who has served on the city council since 2004, was selected to serve on the Police Citizens Advisory Board by the Gwinnett Municipal Association. He will serve as vice chairman of the board.

Cohen is a marketing executive and is vice president of global marketing and communications for a company that provides IT staffing and services.

The founding chair of the Sugar Hill Arts Commission established in 2014, Cohen continues to serve as a member of the arts commission. He is also an active member of the GeorgiaMunicipal Association, serving as president of District 3 NE, which encompasses all Gwinnett cities.  He is a member of both the North Gwinnett High School and North Gwinnett Middle School councils and serves as chair of the NGHS Marketing Advisory Board.

Cohen holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from University of California, Los Angeles (1986), an MBA/marketing from San Francisco State University (1996) and multiple certificates in government and public policy from the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government.

According to the its website, the Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board:

  • Exists to promote an atmosphere of earned trust between the community and the Police Department to enhance accountability, increase transparency, and create sustainable partnerships throughout the community
  • Provides an opportunity to engage and empower residents to be more informed and involved in providing recommendations related to law enforcement policies, procedures, practices, and training as well as establishing goals that can be accomplished through positive and open communication
