ATLANTA — After all the votes were finally tallied and certified from the Georgia General Election Primary on June 9, three congressional districts would require a Runoff election.  Voters will head back to the polls for Congressional Districts 1, 9, and 14 on August 11.

To help the voters become more informed on the candidates running for those seats, The Atlanta Press Club Loudermilk-Young Debate Series will host debates for the candidates facing a runoff.  The debates will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2020.

The debate series will be broadcast courtesy of a partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting.  The debates will be available for viewers to watch online live or on-demand via Facebook at www.fb.com/TheAtlantaPressClub or live at GPB.org.  They also will broadcast on GPB-TV.   

The 9th Congressional District which covers Hall, part of Forsyth, Jackson, Banks, Dawson, and the rest of the Northeast portion of the state will see both democrats and republicans head back to the polls to select their candidate that will appear on the November 3, 2020, General Election ballot.  

Voters in the 9th District will be able to watch the Democratic debate featuring army veteran Devin Pandy and small business owner Brooke Siskin via Livestream on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at 11 a.m. and on GPB-TV on July 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Republican voters will catch the debate between State Rep. Matt Gurtler and firearms business owner Andrew Clyde by Livestream on July 19 at 12:15 p.m. and broadcasted on GPB-TV on July 21 at 7 p.m.

Debate Schedule:

9th Congressional District (Democratic):  Livestream – July 19 at 11 a.m. and Broadcast – July 21 at 7:30 p.m.

9th Congressional District (Republican):  Livestream – July 19 at 12:15 p.m. and Broadcast – July 21 at 7 p.m.

1st Congressional District (Democratic):  Livestream – July 19 at 1:30 p.m. and Broadcast – July 20 at 7:30 p.m.

14th Congressional District (Republican):  Livestream – July 19 at 2:45 p.m. and Broadcast – July 20 at 7 p.m.

The deadline to register to vote in the General Election on November 3 is on Monday, October 5, 2020.  To register to vote visit the Georgia Secretary of State’s website at  https://sos.ga.gov/index.php/Elections/register_to_vote.
