The Gwinnett County Police Department was forced to close the I-85 SB exit ramp at Gravel Springs Road in Buford on Wednesday morning following a single vehicle accident. A tractor-trailer overturned on the ramp emptying it’s contents of 70,000 pounds of raw chicken onto the roadway.
The accident and road closure was announced on the department’s Twitter page at 9:07 a.m. The post urged motorists to use exit ramps at Hamilton Mill Road and Buford Drive while the ramp at Gravel Springs Road was closed.
The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries during the accident.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The exit ramp reopened shortly after 10 a.m.
