Holiday Boat Fire

Three people were on board a boat near Holiday Marina on Lake Lanier when it caught on fire Sunday, and two of the three people sustained minor injuries as a result.

Hall County Fire Rescue was dispatched at 12:33 p.m. Sunday, July 24, to Holiday Marina off Lanier Islands Parkway in Buford to handle the boat fire.

According to Hall County Fire Rescue, fire crews found a boat fully engulfed in flames emitting thick black smoke floating in a no wake zone near Dock M approximately 100 yards from the shore.

About 1 p..m., Hall County Fire Rescue’s Marine 1 was able to extinguish the bulk of the fire using a floating pump that allowed crews to bring the boat closer to shore.

The three people onboard made it safely to another vessel. Two of the three people from the burning boat sustained minor injuries and were later transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
