The Gwinnett County Public Library will establish a dedicated parking space reserved for veterans who have received a Purple Heart Medal at each of its 15 branches, including Buford-Sugar Hill and Suwanee branches.

Purple Heart Medals are awarded in the name of the president to those wounded or killed while serving in the U.S. military.

“These dedicated parking spaces are one small way we can recognize and honor the sacrifice and commitment of combat-wounded veterans,” GCPL states. “GCPL is a firm believer that our servicemembers should be honored and recognized for their sacrifices and bravery.”

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the parking space at the Dacula branch will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 24. The Dacula library is located at 265 Dacula Road.
