Since 2017, camera crews have had access to record detectives with the Gwinnett County Police Department detectives as they conduct investigations. On Tuesday, Aug. 3, Gwinnett commissioners approved a contract renewal for Kirkstall Road Enterprises to continue to film and produce episodes of “The First 48” and the spinoff series “After the First 48” featuring Gwinnett investigators.

“We serve a large, metro community and what I think people should know about our agency is how professional and thorough our investigative unit is,” Police Chief Brett West said in a news release announcing the contract renewal.

The news release also indicated episodes for both shows will air later this year and in early 2022.
