State Duals 2021

MARIETTA — Following a strong performance last Saturday during the qualifying rounds for the Class AAAAAA Team Duals State Championships, the Buford Wolves varsity wrestling team continued the momentum straight to a state championship title.

The Wolves traveled to Lassiter High School in Marietta for the Elite Eight of the Team Duals State Championship on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, where they competed against Richmond Hill.  Buford beat Richmond Hill 38-18 to take on Alexander who had beat out Valdosta in their previous round.  Alexander was a tough team but Buford managed to get the win with a final score of 37-33 to send the Wolves to the final round.

Buford would face Creekview in the Team Duals State Championship finals.  The Wolves came away with a convincing win as they beat Creekview 46-17 to take the Class AAAAAA Team Duals State Championship title.

This is the team’s first state title in their new classification of AAAAAA. Buford has two previous Team Duals State Championship titles which came in Class AAAAA in 2017 and 2018.

Congratulations to the Buford Wolves wrestling program!  Go Wolves!
