The Buford High School softball team finished up the Rumble at the Ridge tournament on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Buford Softball Complex taking on Lambert and then Lakeside.

The Wolves first defeated Lambert in a tough match 2-1 and then won a 12-0 victory against Lakeside. Buford goes undefeated on the young season 3-0.

In the first game against Lambert, senior Emma Castorri drove in Caroline Stanton in the second inning on a double to left field, putting the Wolves up 1-0.

Lambert would answer back in the top of the fourth inning tying up the game at one-all. However, Buford would put another point on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Tavye Borders doubled allowing Castorri to score. This put the Wolves up 2-1, which would be enough to win the game.

Junior Emma Grace Williams earned the win for Buford after she pitched for six innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out six and walking one. Senior Olivia Duncan recorded the save when she stepped in for Williams in the seventh inning.

Leading the offense for Buford against Lambert was Castorri, who went 2-for-3 at bat with a double, an RBI and two stolen bases.

In the afternoon, Buford hosted Lakeside and would defeat them in four innings with a score of 12-0.

The Wolves got their bats going early when Madison Pickens got on base with a single. Adriana Martinez would drive in Pickens’ pinch runner Angelina Baronci. Caroline Stanton then hit a home run driving in two to put Buford up 3-0.

Buford would score four runs in the second inning, and in the third inning, Mackenzie Pickens would hit a home run, driving in three. The Wolves would finish the game in the fourth inning after scoring two additional runs forcing the game to be called due to the run rule.

Stanton would record the win for the Wolves on the mound where she pitched for two innings not allowing any hits or runs while striking out five and walking zero. Addison Rackley got the save, pitching two innings and allowing one hit, no runs, striking out five and walking one.

Mackenzie Pickens led the offense for Buford going 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and scored two runs.

The Wolves will be on the road for their next game at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, against Walnut Grove in a non-region game.
