The Buford varsity softball team loses to Dacula 6-5 at Dacula High School on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021. Dacula has now beaten Buford two out of the three times the two schools have played one another this season.

The Lady Wolves were almost able to tie up the game in the top of the 7th inning when they had a runner in scoring position but just could not make it happen. Buford was able to take the lead over Dacula in the 3rd inning when they scored four runs to make the score 4-2. However, Dacula answered back in their half of the inning to tie up the score at 4-4. Two throwing errors by Buford’s infield helped Dacula score two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning and that would be all it took for the Falcons to win.

Olivia Duncan (6-2) takes the loss after pitching for just over three innings where she gave up nine hits and six runs (three of which were earned).  She struck out one batter.  Emma Grace Williams took over halfway through the fourth inning where she gave up three hits and no runs.

Offensive standouts for Buford were Madison Pickens (3-for-4, one RBI and one run), Taylor Malvin (2-for-4, two RBIs, one run and two stolen bases) and Mackenzie Pickens (1-for-2, triple, one RBI and one run).

Buford’s overall season record falls to 14-2-1 and 6-2 in Region 8-AAAAAA,

Buford travels to Winder-Barrow on Thursday for another region game. The game starts at 5 p.m.
