The USA Today High School Sports Awards announced the members of the 2022 USA Today HSSA Baseball Team on Friday, July 8. Recent Buford High School graduate Riley Stanford was selected for the team.

Stanford is one of 24 high school baseball players who were selected from across the country. These 24 players are in the running to be named the 2022 national Baseball Player of the Year.

The winner, along with three finalists, will be announced Sunday, July 31 during an on-demand broadcast. The top athletes in 29 boys and girls sports awards categories will also be celebrated during the broadcast.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Georgia Tech commit is a versatile player with the ability to be formidable as a right-handed pitcher, playing first base or covering the outfield. Stanford is also a powerful right-handed batter.

Three additional players from Georgia were selected for the team — Termarr Johnson, 2B, Mays High School; Druw Jones, OF/P, Wesleyan School; and Jared Jones, C, Walton High School.
