The school nutrition department for Buford City Schools is partnering with the Atlanta Community Food Bank to ensure local families and children have something to eat.

A mobile food pantry will be set up from 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Thursday, July 15, in the Buford Arena parking lot.

“We want local community members to come and stock their own pantries this Thursday,” said Megan Gower, director of school nutrition for BCS. “We feel it’s part of our responsibility to help feed the families in our area.”

The Atlanta Community Food Bank hosts a dozen mobile markets each month to enhance the physical distribution of food to areas.

“Our families in need greatly benefit from events like this,” said school social worker Macy Black. “We appreciate all the work that goes into an event this size. Our staff and student volunteers consider this part of our mission, to build the community by serving it, and the availability of the Buford Arena allows community outreach endeavors to be incredibly successful.”
