Austin Moore
Austin Moore is a freshman at Buford High School and plays in the Buford Band of Wolves.

Meet Austin Moore, a musically gifted freshman at Buford High School.  Austin is the only son of Cathy Moore. He has a half-sister, Mallory who is 28. Austin attended Flowery Branch Elementary in Kindergarten but enrolled in Buford in the first grade after his grandmother heard about what a wonderful school system Buford was.  He’s been a Buford Wolf ever since.

Austin is an extremely busy student balancing his school work with participating in the Buford Band of Wolves Marching Band and Indoor Drumline, as well as, being a manager for the varsity boys basketball team.  He and his mother both bleed green and gold and more times than not can be seen at various school events cheering on the Wolves.

Being a good student is a priority for Austin and it shows with him earning all As and Bs.  He claims his favorite subjects are math and science. His fifth-grade math and science teacher, Mrs. Kelly Deloach is a Buford staff member that has been one of the most influential of all the staff.  Austin says that Mrs. Deloach has always been there for him when he needed her guidance the most. She was also his JV tennis coach last season. Mr. Matt Young is also a staff member who Austin claims has had a huge impact on his life.  Mr. Young fostered Austin’s love for music and has even inspired him to pursue music in college.

Austin was kept busy from an early age as he played basketball from age six until he was 12, was the varsity boys basketball team’s ball boy from fifth to eighth grades, swam in a summer swim league for seven years, and played JV tennis his eighth-grade year. Playing in the band has been Austin’s main love and he has been active in the band since the sixth grade.  He plays multiple percussion instruments including the marimba, vibe, Glock, xylophone, cymbals, tambourine, and drums.

In the eighth grade, Austin made the high school marching band. He also reached another accomplishment ahead of schedule. Austin was given the chance to play the marimba, something usually reserved for juniors and seniors.  He has a goal to be a section leader and possibly even be a drum major in the years to come.

Under the tutelage of Mr. Matt Young, Austin has flourished and found his calling.  He plans on pursuing a career in music and wishes to go to college for music. Austin says he would like to attend either Western Carolina or the University of Georgia to ultimately become an assistant band director or band director for a high school.

Even when not busy with one of his school activities, Austin can often be found at the various school events.  He and his mother share a love of photography and they enjoy taking photos to share with other students and their families.  Austin also enjoys playing games on his computer and playing with his nephew. He loves to listen to 90s and 2000s era pop.

Austin loves being a student at Buford and has come to really appreciate the school system’s family atmosphere.  He’s learned to always treat others like they are family. Austin is a great example of Buford’s Triple A Excellence motto.
