Buford Academy third grader Layton Hughes loves to read. So much so that when Media Specialist Lana Nix asked what her favorite book is, Layton almost could not choose.

Layton decided that her favorite book is “Dog Man” by Dav Pilkey. She likes how funny and interesting the books in the series are for her to read.

Layton is a special girl who not only loves to read but lives her life with a sunny disposition. It is for these reasons she was selected as a reader spotlight.

“Layton has one of the most positive and upbeat personalities of our students,” Nix says. “She is always smiling and willing to help out in the media center with straightening books or helping a friend. I am always greeted with a hug and, ‘Hello, how are you?’ from Layton.”

In her free time, Layton enjoys spending time with her sisters. She likes to play basketball with her older sister Jasmine, 21, and watch “Raya and the Last Dragon” with her younger sister Harlow, 6.

The Buford City Schools Reader Spotlight is made possible by the generosity of Peoples Bank & Trust, 1899 Buford Highway, Buford GA 30518, (770) 932-1900.
