Elizabeth Osorio, a second grader in Ms. Nix’s class at Buford Academy, has an enthusiasm for reading. Her love for reading, for exploring the many characters and worlds depicted in fiction storybooks, has earned her a Reader Spotlight.

Reading is Elizabeth’s favorite part of school, and she uses any opportunity she can to immerse herself in a wide variety of fiction books. She says she does not have a particular favorite author or favorite series as she loves them all.

“Elizabeth is such a hard worker and dedicates so much of her free time in class to becoming a better reader,” Ms. Nix says. “I am so proud of the growth that she has made this year and how she is becoming more confident in the classroom within her academic journey. She always meets her (Accelerated Reader) goal each quarter and continues to challenge herself by attempting to get as many points as she can.”

Elizabeth is a big sister to Mia, 5, who attends Buford Elementary School, and Kaylin, 3, as well as a sister to her dog named Bear. When she has free time, she loves going to the park and playing on the slide with her mom. Other hobbies she enjoys are drawing, painting and running.

Congratulations, Elizabeth, on being a Reader Spotlight!

The Buford City Schools Reader Spotlight is made possible by the generosity of Peoples Bank & Trust, 1899 Buford Highway, Buford GA 30518, (770) 932-1900.
