Tuesday Softball Report: Buford freshman Emma Grace Williams pitches a shut out against Winder Barrow

BUFORD  8    WINDER BARROW  0

BUFORD — Buford hosted region opponent Winder Barrow on Tuesday evening at the Buford Softball Complex.  Freshman pitcher Emma Grace Williams (6-0) was on the mound for the Wolves as they blank the Bulldoggs 8-0.

Williams pitched for five innings which is her sixth full game and second shutout of the season. She struck out two and only allowed two hits.

Leading the offense were two seasoned veterans.  Senior Abbi Perkins was 3-for-3 at the plate where she hit a huge three-run home run and a double.  She earned four RBIs and scored a run for Buford.  Fellow senior Emmy Hall also had a big night as she went 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple, two RBIs, and scored a run.  Junior Taylor Malvin was also a big contributor going 2-for-3 at the plate.  She scored two runs and stole two bases.

Buford’s overall season record is now 11-2 and 7-0 in Region 8-AAAAAA.

The Wolves travel to Wesleyan on Wednesday for a non-conference game that starts at 6 p.m.

NORTH GWINNETT  13    COLLINS HILL  2

SUWANEE — The North Gwinnett Bulldogs hosted the Collins Hill Eagles on Tuesday night.  The Bulldogs celebrated their seniors at the game and walked away with a 13-2 win over the Eagles.

Sophomore pitcher Amber Reed picks up the win for North Gwinnett.

Bella Faw was 4-for-4 with two singles, a triple, and a home run.  Jaylyn Benson went 3-for-4 with a single, a double, and a three-run home run.  Haley Cummings was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and a three-run home run. Rounding out the offensive standouts for North Gwinnett was Laila Sims who was 3-for-4.

North Gwinnett hosts Parkview on Wednesday, September 9 at 6 p.m.
