GDOT logoBUFORD — The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on Friday that they will implement a lane shift next week as a part of the SR 13/Buford Highway widening project.

The lane shift is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 20, 2020.  Traffic will be moved onto the new lanes in order to continue paving the existing lanes.  The stretch of roadway that will be impacted starts at Sawnee Avenue in Gwinnett County and extends to Friendship Road in Hall County.

When the SR 13/Buford Highway widening project is complete, SR 13 will be transformed from a minor urban artery to a four-lane urban facility.  The road will consist of four lanes, a 20-foot raised median, four-foot bike lanes, curb and gutter, and a five-foot sidewalk on both sides of the road.

GDOT urges motorists to slow down and drive carefully through the work zone.
