Thieves target cars at park on Lake Lanier

Lake Lanier Lower Overlook

BUFORD — Visitors to one park on Lake Lanier stopped to enjoy the beautiful fall colors but their visit ended with busted windows and headaches.  On November 2, police responded to entering auto thefts that occurred at the Lower Overlook at Buford Dam Park on Lake Lanier.  

Victims were targeted between 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Lower Overlook.  Unknown suspect(s) smashed out windows of the cars they wished to gain entry to and quickly grabbed anything valuable.

The suspect(s) were able to make off with a beige Avana Northpoint bag that contained a pink Chanel purse worth over $2,000.00. a lunch box, and a small brown leather purse containing $20.00.

Police did not find any traces of blood from the suspect(s) or any other clues to identify the culprit(s).

It is important that all motorists are vigilant and do not leave anything of value in your vehicle.  Keeping your doors locked won’t ensure the safety of your belongings.
