A theft took place at 10:20 p.m. Jan. 24 at the RaceTrac on Nelson Brogdon Boulevard in Buford. According to police reports, Daevion Tomlin of Snellville and Rachael Walsh of Atlanta attempted to purchase lottery tickets with several fraudulent debit cards. When some of the cards were declined, the suspects snatched the tickets and ran from the store.

Upon approaching the scene, Officer Cultarevic with the Gwinnett County Police Department ran the vehicle tag and attempted to contact the owner, only to find that the car was a rental belonging to Trebor Auto Sales car lot in Lawrenceville. The officer reached the scene, confirmed details and asked for surveillance footage, then confirmed vehicle information and the renter’s identification with the car lot’s owner. Cultarevic matched the identification with one of the people in the surveillance footage, Ariana Woegna of Snellville. The owner of the car lot offered to track the vehicle’s GPS coordinates and provide a current location, which happened to be the Quality Inn on Venture Parkway in Duluth.

Cultarevic arrived at the Quality Inn and found the vehicle in the front of the building, facing one of the rooms. He inquired about the suspects in the surveillance footage and the front desk clerk was able to provide positive identification via still photos from the footage at the RaceTrac, as well as an additional person responsible for renting the room to which the vehicle was in proximity. Cultarevic approached that room and located all three suspects, as well as the additional person renting the room.

Cultarevic discovered that the renter of the room, Dominique Chapman of Madison, had an active warrant and promptly arrested him. He then obtained a search warrant for the premises and found various drugs, drug paraphernalia, 21 lottery tickets and evidence of an ongoing prostitution ring. The officer arrested all four suspects and transported them to the Gwinnett County Jail on the following charges:
