Suwanee receives awards from Georgia Downtown Association

During a recent conference, the Georgia Downtown Association, a nonprofit organization connecting communities and professionals to promote downtown vitality, presented two excellence awards to the city of Suwanee.

With 64 nominations submitted across four categories for the 2022 recognitions, the awards for Creative New Event and Outstanding Promotional Campaign were presented to the city of Suwanee on Wednesday, Aug. 24, in Macon, Georgia.

In the Creative New Event category, Suwanee was recognized for Glow in the Park with the Atlanta International Night Market. The Glow in the Park lantern parade and concert, now in its fifth year, was elevated in 2022 with the addition of the Atlanta International Night Market. According to the city, the partnership capitalized on the unique and popular aspects of each event and resulted in a record attendance of 55,000 people, second only to Suwanee Fest.

The city was also recognized for developing an Outstanding Promotional Campaign for its 2021 Annual Report “LIFE in Suwanee,” based on “The Game of Life.” According to the city, the publication “bolstered Suwanee’s reputation as a fun community that likes to do things a bit differently. The annual report is designed to be enjoyed by non-accountants; not only accessible, but also fun.”
