Suwanee police: Pedestrian dead after shoplifting suspects ran him over with U-Haul van

SUWANEE — A pedestrian is dead after being struck and dragged by a U-Haul van reportedly fleeing Walmart with two shoplifting suspects inside, according to the Suwanee Police Department.

At about 9:04 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, Suwanee officers responded to the Walmart located at 3245 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, where witnesses advised two black male suspects were seen shoplifting. When the suspects were confronted by loss prevention, they fled to the parking lot and got into a U-Haul van with an Arizona tag. While leaving the parking lot, the van struck a pedestrian, who was dragged onto Satellite Boulevard. The suspects fled the scene.

The victim’s name is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.

The suspects are unknown and the Suwanee Police Department is searching for the U-Haul van. Anyone with information is asked to call 770-945-8995.
