SUWANEE — A global electrical-equipment manufacturer is investing nearly $10 million to open a new facility in Suwanee, a project expected to create 300 jobs in Gwinnett County.
Socomec, which designs and builds low-voltage power-management components, will operate out of an existing building on Shawnee Industrial Way. The company plans to begin hiring early next year, with most positions focused on production, assembly and operations.
State and local officials said the project strengthens Gwinnett’s growing advanced-manufacturing sector. The expansion also gives Socomec a larger foothold in the North American market as demand increases for equipment that supports energy storage, power monitoring and grid reliability.
Economic development partners, including the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Partnership Gwinnett and Georgia Quick Start, assisted with the project.
Local leaders said the new facility is expected to boost Suwanee’s industrial corridor and provide long-term job growth for nearby communities.
