On Feb. 5, the Gwinnett County Police Department reported in a news release on their Facebook page that 26-year-old Samuel Norman of Buford was arrested on Feb. 4 in connection to the armed robbery of a local Buford business that occurred Jan. 27.

As said in the news release, officers responded Jan. 27 to a 911 call from a local Buford business in the 2600 block of Buford Drive. Arriving on scene, officers were informed by the victim that the suspect had approached the counter with a firearm, presented it and demanded the cash that was inside the register. After taking the cash, he then proceeded to flee the scene on foot. Officers on scene then canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
After not being able to locate the suspect at that time, the case was then assigned to detectives. On Feb. 4, detectives assigned to the case, along with help from several specialized units, were able to review video evidence from the scene and use additional investigative tools to determine the identity of the suspect.
That same day, a detective proceeded to canvass the area to possibly gather more information on the case from local residents. As he was canvassing the area, the detective observed the suspect leaving a local residence and officers then approached Norman and placed him under arrest.
In the news release, it is stated that Norman has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Norman was booked in the Gwinnett County Jail.
