Sugar Hill man arrested in Hall County on heroin trafficking charges

HALL COUNTY — A Sugar Hill man was arrested by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office last week after he was found to have a sizable quantity of heroin in his possession worth an estimated $12,000 along with marijuana.

Whitney David Johnson, age 31 of Sugar Hill was arrested on the evening of Wednesday, September 2, and was found to be in possession of approximately 63 grams of heroin and a pound of marijuana.  The investigation and arrest took place at a location in the 1200 block of Lanier Mill Circle in Oakwood in Hall County.

During Johnson’s arrest, once he was handcuffed, he took off on foot but was apprehended a short distance later.

The arrest of Johnson was the culmination of an investigation by the Gainesville/Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (MANS Unit).

Johnson was booked into the Hall County Jail on charges of trafficking heroin, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, obstruction of an officer, and escape.  He remains in custody.

Hall County does not expect any additional arrests in this investigation.
