Staff Reports

If you are a parent or a sitter wondering what you are going to do to keep the kids entertained for this entire week of Spring Break, your local branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library system has you covered.  They have activities available to students in Kindergarten through Twelfth grades.

Most activities do not require registration ahead of time and all activities are free. Activities range from their Make a Mess @ the Library series during the day to their Fandom Frenzy in the evenings.

If your child is between the ages of 5-10, you can find a free activity for them each day this week at 2 p.m.  The library is holding fun sessions called Make a Mess @ the Library. During these sessions, the library will be providing messy fun activities to keep kids entertained.  Registration is not required.

Each Fandom Frenzy has a different theme for each session.  During each night’s session, there will be crafts, games, and trivia that goes with that night’s theme.  Attendees are also encouraged to dress in costume to go with the theme of the night. Fandom Frenzy is held at 6 p.m. each night this week and is available to students in grades 6-12. Registration is not required.

Children who love technology and games can also find something of interest to them. The library has a few activities planned that will appeal to gamers and technology buffs. They will be holding a virtual game night where children ages 13 and up can play competitive VR games using various apps.  Parents must sign a permission form for that activity. On Friday at 3 p.m. the kids who love Fortnite will have their turn to be entertained.   Kids from grades 6-12 can come to test their Fortnite skills at the library.
