Shots fired after two groups of males got into verbal altercation in Suwanee

SUWANEE — The Suwanee Police Department is investigating an incident that took place in the heart of its historic downtown district on Thursday, April 1, 2021.

Shots fired were reported in the area of Main Street and Scales Road in Suwanee around 12:16 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. 

Officers responded quickly to the scene and were able to determine that two groups of males had gotten into a brief argument. One male from one of the groups fired shots following the verbal altercation. The shooter and his companions fled the scene in two separate vehicles.

Reports from Facebook suggested that buildings were on lockdown following the incident.  

However, Lieutenant Robert Thompson with the Suwanee Police Department said, “No buildings were on lockdown although an area of the roadway on Scales Road was taped off for crime scene to gather evidence.”

No one was injured during the argument or when shots were fired.

No charges have yet to be filed in this case.

The case is being actively investigated by the Suwanee Police Department.
