Flowery Branch – The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating an incident in which an individual brandished a handgun following a high school football game on Thursday night, Oct. 30.
According to the initial investigation, two men followed the Cedar Shoals High School football team from the field to its locker area at Flowery Branch High School after the game. The two, who were wearing black hoodies and had their faces covered, argued with and threatened members of the Cedar Shoals team near the locker area in a parking lot.
Cedar Shoals coaches intervened to diffuse the situation and tried to get the individuals to leave. One of the suspects then brandished a handgun. An Athens-Clarke County School Police officer began approaching, prompting both suspects to flee. The officer pursued them but was unable to locate them.
An HCSO K-9 team began a track of the suspects while school resource officers and investigators responded to the scene, but the initial search was unsuccessful.
While there were no threats made toward anyone associated with Flowery Branch High School, law enforcement increased its presence on campus Friday, Oct. 31.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with information on the suspects’ identities or whereabouts is asked to contact HCSO investigators at (770) 503-3232 or intelrequest@hallcounty.org.
