Retiring principal has day named in her honor

North Gwinnett Middle School principal Wanda Law is being recognized with a day named in her honor.

Suwanee Mayor Jimmy Burnette and the Suwanee City Council declared Friday, April 29, 2022, as Principal Wanda Law Day.

“Today is very special,” Law said. “This was an unexpected honor for me. The mayor, city council members, and city employees have always supported me and North Gwinnett Middle School. My students have participated in Suwanee Fest parade. Performed on stage in town center and many other activities. It has been a pleasure to work with the children and families of Suwanee.”

Law is retiring after 33 years working in education. She has served as principal at North Gwinnett Middle since the school’s opening in 2009.

“I have enjoyed my job as principal and I hope I have had a positive impact on the students and families,” Law said. “All the phone calls, texts and emails today have been fun!”

The Gwinnett County Board of Education has named Sheri Gilbert the next principal of North Gwinnett Middle. Gilbert currently serves as an assistant principal at Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology. She has been employed by Gwinnett County Public Schools since 1995.
