Twice a year coinciding with Memorial Day and Veterans Day, the city of Sugar Hill places orders for engraved brick pavers to be installed at the city’s Veterans Memorial Plaza in honor and remembrance of those who have served in the armed services.

Now is one of those times, as Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 31, and now through March 11, brick pavers can be purchased by Sugar Hill residents, gas customers and city staff for $75 per brick.

“The custom paver stones provide an opportunity for our community to directly connect with the memorial as well as commemorate a loved one’s service and sacrifice in the cause of defending our country,” said Nadia Merritt, downtown coordinator for the city of Sugar Hill. “The monument and its connection with the public emphasize civic engagement and a sense of pride and patriotism.”

Sugar Hill residents can complete an online form at https://cityofsugarhill.com/veterans-memorial-form/ and provide the service member’s information. The individual memorialized or honored with the brick paver does not have to live in Sugar Hill or be a Sugar Hill native.

The Sugar Hill Veterans Memorial Plaza is across from Sugar Hill City Hall at the intersection of West Broad Street and Church Street.
