North Gwinnett’s Kayden McDonald picks Ohio State

North Gwinnett senior defensive lineman Kayden McDonald announced his long-awaited college decision on Halloween. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound four-star recruit picked Ohio State over Florida, Oklahoma, Michigan and Clemson. McDonald received a total of 36 offers from colleges around the country but had narrowed down his list to just five before making his announcement.

Ohio State offered for McDonald in September 2021 during his junior season. He visited Ohio State shortly after he received their offer and again on Sept. 24-26 of this year.

McDonald has been a dependable workhorse for the North Gwinnett Bulldogs’ varsity football team. So far this season, he has 46 tackles (36 solo tackles), 27 tackles for losses, eight sacks, nine quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries on the defense. He has contributed to North’s offense by rushing for six touchdowns this year.

In his junior year, McDonald racked up impressive numbers on the defense with 95 tackles (80 solo tackles), 58 tackles for losses, 19 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries.
