Man drowns near Little River on Lake Lanier

Game Wardens with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources responded to a call about a possible drowning at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at a residence in Little River on Lake Lanier.

According to DNR public affairs officer Mark McKinnon, bystanders were able to pull the drowning victim out of the water and he was then transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. He was pronounced as deceased at the hospital.

The victim has been identified as Frantz Joseph Scutt, 48, of Gainesville.

This is the first fatality on the state’s waterways this holiday weekend.

No details surrounding the circumstances of his drowning have been released at this time.
