NORCROSS — Gwinnett police have charged a 34-year-old man with murder after a woman was found dead inside a Graves Road home Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to an apartment in the 1600 block of Graves Road shortly after 12:20 p.m., where they found 32-year-old Marisol Ballestas Brochero dead at the scene. Investigators said she had been strangled.

Police identified the suspect as Fabricio Cerchiaro Pinto, who they said lived at the same address as Brochero. Detectives are treating the case as a domestic-violence homicide.

According to investigators, Pinto left the apartment after the killing and crashed his vehicle about a mile away near the intersection of Graves Road and Dawson Boulevard. He was taken to a hospital after the wreck and later charged with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault.

This marks the second domestic-violence-related homicide reported in Gwinnett County in two weeks.

Police said no additional suspects are being sought and there is no ongoing threat to the community. The case has been turned over to the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
