Thaden Rumbaugh, a recent graduate of Lanier High School, was named a recipient of the 2025 Gwinnett Police Rising Star Award on April 22, an honor that recognizes his extraordinary leadership and dedication to community service.

The honor is awarded annually to two Gwinnett County high school juniors or seniors who have made

significant impacts through civic engagement and service. Rumbaugh’s resume speaks volumes, reflecting years of commitment to uplifting his community. Since 2016, Rumbaugh has earned the Presidential Volunteer Service Award every year for his sustained volunteer efforts. His leadership includes serving as a member of State School Superintendent Richard Woods’ Student Advisory Council and as a two-year participant in the Gwinnett Youth Commission — first as a youth commissioner during his junior year and later as a senior-year advisor.

At Lanier High, Rumbaugh was actively involved as a student council representative and teen mentor, roles that allowed him to foster positive change within his school community. His service extended beyond school walls; he has contributed to numerous local initiatives, including hurricane relief supply drives, blanket collections for senior citizens, food distributions and backpack programs with the North Gwinnett Co-op. “I’m humbled and grateful to be recognized for the many hours of community service over the years,” Rumbaugh said. “I share this award with the many others like me who put in the hours to better our communities.” As he prepares to begin his college journey, Rumbaugh leaves behind a legacy of service and leadership that exemplifies the values of the Gwinnett Police Rising Star Award.
