The 11U Lanier Longhorns Travel Baseball Team traveled to Orange Beach, Alabama last week to compete in the USSSA World Series. The Longhorns played teams from Tennessee, Texas, and Mississippi. Their overall tournament record was seven wins to one loss.

“The Longhorns won both the semi-final and championship games in dominant fashion,” stated head coach Jason Diaz. Adrian Jimenez pitched a shutout game during the semi-final game against the Tennessee Stallions with a final score of 4-0. The Longhorns played their best game during the championship game against the Mississippi Exposure Thunder. Longhorns pitcher Sheldon Pugh went the entire game allowing no runs, and this gave Lanier another shutout game of the tournament. The Longhorns took the USSSA World Series title with a 10-0 win over Mississippi.

With field temps around 100 degrees all week, it was a total team effort.
