The Georgia Department of Natural Resources along with fire rescue crews from Forsyth, Gwinnett and Hall arrived at Shoal Creek park and began to immediately look for an adult male who never resurfaced after jumping into the water from his inflatable raft. He had jumped into the lake to retrieve an oar.

According to DNR spokesperson, Mark McKinnon, a search for the missing man began immediately using side-scan sonar.  The search continued until 11:20 p.m. when it was suspended for the night.  The search resumed again this morning at Shoal Creek.

There is no word yet on the lake depth at the point where the victim is thought to be.

The victim’s identity has yet to be released.
