High school sports round-up: Buford girls top Sprayberry to earn Elite Eight appearance

BUFORD — The Buford girls basketball team hosted Sprayberry on Friday, Feb. 26, at the Buford City Arena, where they got a 90-63 victory. Still undefeated Buford will advance to the Elite Eight in the Class AAAAAA playoffs.

Junior Tatum Ozment and freshman Ava Grace Watson each scored 17 points for the Lady Wolves. Seniors Ashyia Willis and Abbi Perkins each contributed 16 points in Buford’s win over Sprayberry.

Buford (26-0) girls basketball will host Lovejoy at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at the Buford City Arena.

Boys basketball

JOHNS CREEK — Chattahoochee rallied from behind to force overtime and ultimately win the game against Buford with a final score of 76-72.

Buford (19-8) was up by 13 with just 2:45 seconds left in the game, but Chattahoochee had a late rally to tie up the game, forcing it into overtime. Chattahoochee would ultimately pull off the win knocking the Buford Wolves out of the state playoffs.

Boys lacrosse

BUFORD — Greater Atlanta Christian proved to be just too much for Buford to defeat. GAC pulled off a win 8-3 on Friday, Feb. 26, at Buford High School.

Points for Buford (2-3) were put up by Nash Perry, Mikey Canavan and Zach Salo. Canavan had an assist.

Girls soccer

BUFORD — The Buford girls soccer team shut out Habersham Central on Friday, Feb. 26, at BHS with a final score of 10-0.

Buford’s offense saw two points scored from both Victoria Bahr and Alli Treadwell. Scoring one point each for the Lady Wolves were Emma Danley, Skylar Gindlesperger, Kaitlyn White, Emma Chaffee and Carolyn Calzada. Goalie Alina Pope recorded the shutout for Buford.
