LAWRENCEVILLE — Ahead of Tuesday’s election, the Gwinnett Police Department has developed an action plan to ensure residents are able to cast their votes safely.
The department announced Monday that it has not received any credible or actionable threats related to elections in Gwinnett County, but it has made preparations with local city departments and the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office to form a response plan for increased patrols and checks for polling stations.
The department has also increased its available resources for Election Day and the days following.
The department advises voters to be prepared to wait in lines at polling locations.
“As with any other day of the year, the department wants to remind people that if they see something suspicious, or witness any public safety issue, to immediately call 911 and report it,” a department news release stated.
The department’s operational staff will monitor activities at polling locations throughout the day on Tuesday.
“The goal will be to establish a presence, act as a deterrence, and make our residents feel safe and comfortable,” the news release states.
