Georgia DOT to close right lane at I-85/I-985 northbound split for bridge repair

Beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, April 10, the Georgia Department of Transportation will close the right lane of Interstate 985 northbound beginning at the I-85/I-985 split in Suwanee to perform emergency bridge repair at mile post 0-1.

Construction will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will continue through Tuesday, April 11, weather permitting.

Traffic congestion in the area is expected, and drivers are encouraged to consider alternative routes to avoid delays.

“Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers,” a news release from the Georgia DOT states.

Trucks loads more than 12 feet wide are prohibited through the area during the lane closure, and drivers should seek alternative routes.

Real-time information on the work status and traffic conditions is available by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org or downloading the Georgia 511 app.
