A Flowery Branch man is accused of stealing more than $20,000 in COVID emergency rental assistance from the Hall County government by pretending to be a landlord, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
Tony Lamar Mosley, 48, was arrested Friday morning, Sept. 24, 2021, at his Hog Mountain residence. He is charged with four felony counts of theft by deception.
According to the investigation, Mosley was listed as the landlord for four rental properties on applications for COVID emergency rental assistance, and he was awarded assistance on four occasions this year. Personnel processing paperwork for the rental assistance became suspicious when the most recent application included months for which the suspect had already received money.
Mosley was released from the Hall County Jail on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, after posting a $66,800 bond.
