(Buford and Hall County, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a shooting and homicide that occurred on Express Lane in unincorporated Buford early this morning.

At around 3am, a resident in the Duncan Park neighborhood called the GCPD 911 Center to report hearing gunshots.  Officers arrived shortly thereafter and found a young man in his early 20s suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was found in front of the neighborhood clubhouse at the end of Express Lane in the cul-de-sac.  The victim was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville and eventually underwent surgery.  His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening at this time.

The Crime Scene Unit responded to begin processing the scene.  Lilburn Police K9 also responded to assist in a ground search.

Shortly before 7am, a second victim was discovered.  This victim was found deceased in a vehicle about 200-300 yards away from the original crime scene.  The vehicle and body were found along a dirt road/path that travels under the power lines that skirt the back of the neighborhood.  This location was just inside Hall County.

The GCPD K9 Unit along with the Aviation Unit responded to the scene to search this vast area for any additional victims/suspects and evidence.

At this time, we don’t know who the shooter/s is/are.  The lead detective is looking into the possibility that additional people may be involved.  The identities of the shooting victim and the homicide victim will be withheld until their next-of-kin can be notified.

The motivation for the crime is still being investigated.
